Bag of Bones

A competition you ask? YES, a competition. Who would have known that going into my second year of college could have started out this way. An event and competition that is held each year, known as the Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library Interior Design Competition has made way into my residential and commercial classes. Each year this competition changes but the objective stays the same. This year, the competition will consist of creating an art gallery at a location that resides in upstate New York. There will be three floors: the first two being open to the public and providing art, sculpture and photography; while the third floor is a residential space where the owners will live.

There is an unlimited amount of space for creativity within this project and that gave me room to really dig into a concept full heartedly. After deep thought and consideration, I have chosen to go with a very modern theme that would provide visual creativity while also being informative and interesting. The human body is a beautiful thing. An art really. From physical attributes to the biology of our cells, everything about the human form is beautiful. So, with that being said, YOU, ME and EVERYONE else will be the subjects of my art gallery. From our heads to our toes, visitors will be able to explore what makes up the most complicated and interesting thing on our planet. A section of my art gallery will be focused on white, black and gray artwork, while the other half will be based on high contrast colors. Both art sections will provide different tones, which in return is what I ultimately want. Two perspectives are always better than one, I have been told.

Below are a few inspirational photos that relate to the style of art gallery I will be going for!
Hope you enjoy!
